Sasol Limited is a publicly held oil and gas chemical company located in Johannesburg, South Africa. The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol SSL. The company was founded in 1950 with the intention of developing synthetic fuels technologies and the production of different liquid fuels as well as providing chemicals and electricity in certain parts of South Africa.
Sasol holds the distinction of being the first oil and gas concern in the world to be able to produce oil-from-coal, which helps to supply up to 40% of South Africa’s fuel needs.

Other major projects include the Oryx GTL plant in Qatar and the Uzbekistan GTL project in Uzbekistan.

The company’s international employment number shows 30,600 employees operating under the leadership of Bongani Nqwababa and Stephen Cornell, who both operate as joint CEOs. For the fiscal year ended 2015, the company had total revenues of USD $21.78 billion, which ended up translating to USD $4.72 billion in operating income and USD $3.11 billion of net income.
