Pemex or Petroleos Mexicanos is a Mexican petroleum company that is owned by the state of Mexico. The company was established in 1938 as a result of the nationalization of petroleum and the expropriation of various companies during that period. Pemex’s assets are estimated to be worth $415.75 billion. The company is also the second largest non-publicly listed company in the world and the second largest enterprise in Latin America, in terms of revenue. The majority of the shares in Pemex are controlled by the Mexican government. However, the company’s publicly listed shares alone are valued at $202 billion.
