Headquartered in Houston, Texas, the ConocoPhillips Corporation is an American MNC in the energy sector and is one of the six Big Oil companies of the world. The company tops the list of largest independent pure-play oil and natural gas exploration and production companies of the world. It was listed seventh in the Fortune Global 500 list of the biggest oil and gas companies of 2013, in terms of their total revenue.
The company was founded in August 30, 2002, by the merger of the Conoco Inc. and the Phillips Petroleum Co. – becoming the fifth largest integrated oil company in the world. ConocoPhillips later signed off its downstream assets to subsidiary Phillips 66, losing its title of the fifth largest integrated oil company.
Operating from six operational segments, across the globe – the Alaska region, Lower 48 and Latin America region, Canada, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Other International regions, ConocoPhillips explores, develops and produces oil and natural gas.
